MANUFACTURERS OF PRE-STRESSED CABLE ANCHORS

Our market leading product is called the Pre-Stressed Cable Anchor traditionally used for secondary support in the haulages, stations and large chambers of the underground mines.  In more recent times, M and J Mining and Anglo Platinum have led the way by introducing Cable Anchors to the primary support environment of the stopes and panels.  In doing so, we have created a viable alternative to the stick support that so many mines rely upon for their primary support.  The aerial support that the Stope Anchor gives allows for mechanisation of the stopes as space is now available for the machinery to manoeuvre.  M and J Mining plan to further entrench the advantages of our Stope Anchors in more shafts and other Mining Houses in the future.

A relatively new product and one which enjoys the protection of a South African patent is the threaded cable we call the Flexibolt.  The thread is directly cut into the cable diameter and gives an ultimate tensile strength close to 80% of the cable itself.  This is far higher than any other alternative product.  The flexibility of the Flexibolt allows the Rock Engineering Manager to design a more effective support system that anchors itself higher into the hanging wall of the stope than the narrow stope height would allow if using a solid steel roof bolt.  We believe this to be the future of primary support as they continually strive to reduce the waste rock hauled from the mine. 

We also supply associated equipment to tension the Cable Anchor and the Flexibolt. We supply new equipment, repair old equipment for our Customers and offer a quick turnaround service exchange system as an alternative to a repair. 

M and J Mining has recently realised the opportunity to supply allied products to the Mines and as part of our suite of products we are now proud to offer Oslo Straps – an aerial support solution often used in conjunction with Cable Anchors.  

We also supply a range of safety net accessories used to hang, tighten and make safe the safety nets in the Mining Industry. We market these under the brand name Stahlwerk.

We are currently investigating other allied products for the Mining Industry including Fall of Ground event indicators and grouting solutions for Cable Anchors as well as Steel Mesh.  

We are striving to improve our current solutions and create new products through our research and development Department which is driven from our sales force and anchored by our resident rock engineer and sales director. 

A quality product is ensured and relied upon by our Customers and it is our job through the guidance of our ISO 9000:2015 Quality Assurance System that we deliver a quality product on time and a backup service that ensures we look after our Customer as if they are the only one we have. 

M and J Mining has 5500m2of factory space in Boltonia, Krugersdorp on a fully concreted stand of more than 22 000 m2.  The space is there for the expansion of the Company.

We employ 68 permanent staff on the Production floor; we have 5 Administration staff and 8 people in the Sales and Marketing Team with a Senior Management team of 6. 

Sales are split into Platinum, Gold and Diamond Mines and are our Exports are covered by our close association with Augusta Steel which focuses primarily on the African market with Agents in Zambia and Zimbabwe. 

We have designed and implemented a new automated cable cutting, trimming and strapping system.  This will afford us the luxury of an automated cutting solution as we venture into an expansion phase in our Company.  Two new overhead cranes have also been introduced which reduces our reliance on forklift solutions and helps facilitate the implementation of the automated cutting line.
